Windows keyboard shortcuts

Windows has many time-saving shortcuts built around the Windows key. Win+V opens clipboard history, Win+Shift+S takes a screenshot of part of the screen and Win plus an arrow snaps windows to the side. This sheet collects the most useful ones.

Saved you some time? Leave a tip, entirely optional.

They work on Windows 10 and 11.

Why make a shortcut cheat sheet?

Keyboard shortcuts save seconds many times a day, but they only stick once you use them without thinking. A short printed list next to your screen is one of the easiest ways to get there. Pick five or ten shortcuts you want to learn, keep them in view for a week or two, and then swap in new ones. ShortcutSheet makes those lists quickly: start from a ready-made set for VS Code, macOS or Windows, filter it down with the search box, or write your own for any app.

Mac and Windows keys

Shortcuts are written with a portable Mod key, which shows as ⌘ Command on a Mac and Ctrl on Windows. Mac shortcuts use the symbols macOS shows in its menus: ⌃ Control, ⌥ Option, ⇧ Shift and ⌘ Command, always in that order before the key. Windows shortcuts are written out with plus signs, such as Ctrl+Shift+P. Where an app uses a different shortcut on each system, as VS Code does for Replace, the list stores both and shows the right one for the system you choose.

Writing your own list

Choose Custom, or press Customise this list to copy a ready-made list into the editor. Each line is an action, a vertical bar and the keys: Save | Mod+S. Lines beginning with # start a new section. For a chord, where you press one combination and then another, separate the parts with a space, as in Mod+K Mod+S. Key names such as Enter, Tab, Backspace and the arrow keys are turned into symbols on Mac.

Printing

Choose one, two or three columns, edit the title at the top of the sheet and press Print. Only the sheet is printed, without the site header or controls, so it fits neatly on one page for most lists. Everything is stored in your browser.
